WebBackground/Purpose: Although a higher risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) has been associated with antiresportive treatment based on spontaneous reports and observational studies, no study has systematically assessed the ONJ risk associated with Prolia (denosumab 60 mg). WebOsteonecrosis of the jaw ONJ has been reported in patients taking Prolia and XGEVA, with a higher incidence reported for XGEVA. ONJ, which can occur spontaneously, is generally associated with tooth extraction and/or local infection with delayed healing.
