You might have to slightly pry to break the seal between the cover plate and door. With the rose free, you should be able to remove the doorknob, leaving behind the latch spindle. WebThe manufacturer advises removing the black rubber 'O' ring which in on the spindle. Presumably, that will allow the spindle to slide through the latch mechanism.
